Reading the Bible can seem overwhelming. It contains over 800,000 words and 1,189 chapters. It’s no wonder that people don’t know where to begin or how to digest all of that information. I want to suggest 6 must-read chapters of the Bible. I believe that if you just read these 6 chapters, you will gain a biblical worldview that will provide foundation for understanding the Bible and your life.

So what are these 6 special chapters?

The first three and the last three.

That’s right. I believe that if you read and understand Genesis 1–3 (the first 3 chapters of the Bible) and Revelation 20–22 (the last 3 chapters), you will unlock the major themes of scripture and provide basis for living the life God designed for you to live.

Just in these chapters, you will learn:

  • How the universe was created
  • The power of God
  • The original purpose of mankind (Gen 1:28)
  • The origin and purpose of the 7-day week
  • The purpose of marriage (Gen 2:24)
  • The work and temptation of Satan
  • The process of sin
  • Why there is suffering in the world
  • The promise of Jesus (Gen 3:15)
  • The first animal sacrifice (Gen 3:21)
  • The ultimate defeat of Satan (Rev 20:10)
  • The future heaven and earth
  • God’s final judgement
  • God’s hope for the future
  • God’s heart for the nations (Rev 22:2)
  • The return of Jesus

Wow! All of that and more in only 6 chapters! Why would you not study these chapters and glean as much as possible from them? Doing so will give you a solid foundation for developing a biblical worldview and an understanding of God and His ways.

Recommendation: Read these six chapters in the next week and share your insights with a friend!
